CTRL+SHFT is an arts collective and project space located in West Oakland, California. Our ever growing collective is inclusive of women, WOC, queer, genderqueer, trans & non-binary writers, artists, performers, thinkers, curators, allies, agitators, organizers, activists, and teachers. Artist-run spaces like ours are particularly important springboards for emerging artists or those who have taken nontraditional trajectories to develop and present their work. We love our extended community and now we're inviting you to play an integral role in the collective's future by supporting us here!
One year at CTRL+SHFT includes six exhibitions curated via open call, featuring over 48 artists and 3 curatorial teams, as well as 6 interpretive programs featuring 6 local artists and community members. In addition to our open-call exhibitions, we offer up our gallery as a two-month residency to a local artist or collective to use as studio and exhibition space. These programs combined with the 13 studios that our members inhabit, are just some of the ways that we support emerging artists in the bay area.
The primary focus of our Drip is to sustain our exhibition space, create designated funding for artists, art workers, and curators that meets W.A.G.E. standards, and enhance our residency. As a subscriber, you will be invited into our studios, receive momentos from the collective, and learn about art and theory from our radical syllabus. You can even subscribe to support and receive our first ever catalog!
