Design Matters is one of the world’s very first podcasts. Broadcasting independently for over 14 years, the show is about how incredibly creative people design the arc of their lives.

For over 14 years I’ve been hosting Design Matters – the world’s very first podcast about design, and an inquiry into the broader world of creative culture through in-depth conversations with designers, writers, artists, musicians, poets, scientists and performers. 

Over the years, I have interviewed guests including Roxane Gay, Elizabeth Gilbert, Laurie Anderson, Albert Watson, Isaac Mizrahi, Shepard Fairy, Alain de Botton, Malcolm Gladwell, Krista Tippett, Seth Godin, Barbara Kruger, Tim Ferriss, Chris Anderson, Maira Kalman, Eileen Myles, Nicholas Blechman, Christoph Niemann, Nico Muhly, and many, many others.

The podcast has evolved from a show about design to one that is primarily about how creative people design the trajectory of their lives. How do people create the lives they want for themselves? What kinds of obstacles have they faced? How to they create intentionality in what they want to make? I find these questions endlessly fascinating and have begun to feel that this is a big part of my life's work.

In 2011, Design Matters won a Cooper Hewitt National Design Award and last year iTunes designated the show as one of the best podcasts in the world. In addition, we have been voted a top 10 podcast by Architectural Digest, a top podcast for entrepreneurs by MakeShift, the podcast you should be listening to by GoMedia, and the number one podcast by Creative Bloq. We currently have well over five million downloads a year, and over 25 million downloads since the show began. 

My partnership with Drip will give listeners an opportunity to be more involved in the show via access to transcripts of the shows, additional live interview recordings that aren't released to the public, various opportunities to sit in on live Design Matters recordings, intimate Q&A sessions with my guests, and an annual publication featuring additional interviews, artwork, cultural commentary from legendary writers and editors and more. We're asking for support to bring this additional material and access to listeners in a meaningful, exceptionally well designed way.
