Hi there! It’s your old friend John Holdun. Last time you heard from me, I said I was closing my Drip because of the acquisition and the uncertain future, and after talking to a lot of people—including some people that are watching this right now—I changed my mind! I’m still going to move the public face of Variable Stage and my themed entertainment pursuits back to the Variable Stage website, but I’m going to keep my Drip around specifically as a vlog, as a back channel for what I’m working on, which is really what it should have been in the first place.
As I record this, it’s about 1am on Wednesday, which means: Happy Halloween! I spent the last four or five days crunching on The Third Avenue Chamber, this year’s Variable Stage attraction, and I came so close to finishing but it’s not quite there. The set is done but the characters still need some work and there are still some details I want to add, so I’m holding off on the walkthrough video for a few days. Ultimately, because this isn’t for a live audience, it’s a portfolio piece, so it’ll be done when it’s done. When it is finished, you’ll see it first here on Drip before anybody else, but I’m going to take the next couple of days to just…rest.
That being said, tomorrow is November 1st, which means it’s time for a new project! I have something in mind, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot. The plan is for November to work out the concept and talk about what my goals are for this; in December, I’ll build a paper prototype to get the layout right; and then in January, we’re going to build a scale model just like the one that I’m almost finished with for October, and…it’s going to be cool!
That’s all for now; I’ll tell you more about it next week. And until then: see you on stage!
