Join us as we enter our tenth year as an artist-run organization! We need your help to sustain a slice of the art world that we can all be proud of.

Tiger Strikes Asteroid is a community of artist-run spaces in Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.  By connecting people and places through artist-initiated exhibitions, projects, and curatorial opportunities, we’ve built a community that celebrates artists at all levels in their careers and provides an alternative model of support outside of the current commercial art market. We empower artists to expand their role beyond that of studio practitioner to include the roles of curator, critic, and community developer. Now, as we enter our tenth year, we’re reaching out to you to help build a sustainable future for our organization.

Other artist-run projects commonly present programs to their own communities. TSA, on the other hand, has developed a series of parallel networks that act collaboratively and independently. Because of the network’s structure, these local dialogs then feed back into a national conversation expanding the reach of each program. Since 2009, we’ve organized almost 200 exhibitions/projects and have shown the work of over 800 artists. We’ve organized large scale projects such as Artist-Run Miami, where we invited artist-run spaces from all over the world to transform a room in an abandoned hotel during Basel week. We've given many artists their first solo shows and reviews of their work in the press. We have also shown the work of emerging artists alongside major artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Carolee Schneeman, and Mickalene Thomas, creating new exciting contexts for their work.

We are extremely proud that we have stayed true to our mission of supporting artist-initiated projects even as we have grown significantly in the last several years from a small DIY space in Philadelphia to a national institution. TSA has been run and funded by its artist-members since our founding, but as we grow and evolve, we want to livestream our events, host in-depth artist walkthroughs, produce publications, and offer honorariums to guest speakers and curators. Having a consistent and stable monthly budget will allow us to be more sustainable and ambitious in our projects.

We need your help to continue our labor of love and to sustain a slice of the art world that we can all be proud of.
